General Tao Chicken |
Especially, when you have to make the "chicken balls", before putting them all together with the sauce. But don't despair. The tasty General Tao Chicken will pay your efforts.
General Tao Chicken Recipe:
Crumbles or cut left-over Roasted Chicken1 Egg
Salt, Pepper
Flour (the amount is adjusted with the roast chicken)
1 tsp Fish Sauce
Oil for frying (deep fry)
Just put all the ingredients above, and add flour as last turn. Adding the amount of flour till you can make a ball. You can add 1/4 cup of cold water to make the whole ingredients mixed well. Fry the Chicken Balls with lots of oil (deep frying) with medium heat and make sure the Chicken Balls is well cooked. Put them aside.
General Tao Chicken's Sauce:
Half of Red Pepper, cut into small squaresHalf of Onion
2-3 Red Hot Dried Chili
2 cloves of Garlic, minced
1/2 tbsp Sesame Oil
1 tbsp Soy Sauce
1/2 tbsp Vinegar
2 tbsp Oyster Sauce
1- 1.5 cup Chicken Broth
1 tsp Corn Starch
1/2 tbsp Sweet Dark Soy Sauce
Salt, Pepper
Broccoli or minced Peanuts (optional)
Stir fry the dried Hot Chili first until "brownies", then add the Garlic and continue stir frying them then add Onion. Until you smell the aroma of garlic, then put the Red Pepper and (optional) Broccoli or other solid ingredients (as your choice) and keep stirring them.

Batter of Chicken Balls |
In a separate bowl, mix the rest of ingredients except Sesame Oil. (Sesame Oil must be put at last turn). Finally, taste the sauce, and add Salt and Pepper, if you taste something is "missing". Put sesame oil and when everything is perfect, join the Chicken balls as final frontier. :)
